Joan R. (Macy) Bohn, 85, Joplin, Missouri died April 16, 2024.

Joan and Garland G.W. Bohn were united in marriage to July 1, 1956 in Wichita, where they grew up together as childhood sweethearts. They were married 67 years. They lived in Columbus for 42 years where she was still a member of the First Christian Church and retiree of the Columbus Telephone Company.

Known for her ornery sense of humor and love of adventure, she had a true passion for life. She treasured spending time with family, friends and cherished all of their animals and plants at home. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing.

“There are many people in life that will never leave, even after they’re gone.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Luella Macy and four siblings, Lois Prichard (Lee) and Barbara Bohn (Clifford) of Wichita, Lloyd Macy (Ann) of Starke, Florida, and Don Macy (Barbara) of White Bird, Ida.

Survivors include three children: son, Bryce A. Bohn (Dani) Boise, Ida., daughter, Brett A. Wary (James Spriggs) Noel, Mo. and son Blair A. Bohn (Michelle) Eureka, Mont.; Grandchildren Tara Wary Spencer (Travis) Neosho, Mo., Dustin Wary (Ana) and Derek Wary (Karah) all of Columbus; Great grandchildren Natalie and Jacob Wary (Derek), Jesse and Gabe Wary (Dustin); Nephew Steven Bohn (Tawnya), Kathy Peavey (Mark) and Diane Dixon (Greg) and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews from the Manley and Comstock families also survive.

Arrangements for cremation are through Derfelt Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at First Christian Church in Columbus, Saturday April 20 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbus First Christian Church.
