Columbus Junior High wins Galena Invitational Golf

The Columbus Junior High GolfTeam won the top five spots in Galena Junior High Golf Tournament, at Joplin’s Schifferdecker Golf Course, Thursday, taking the team title with a 208 stroke team total. Galena placed second with 230 strokes, Caney was third with 262, and Pittsburg came in third with 272 total strokes.

Titan Seventh Grader, Jayden Dohle, improved his school record mark in the 400 Meter Dash, Thursday, at the Girard Middle School Invitational Track and Field Meet. The record-breaking sprinter is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

Titans deflate Golden Tornado

Wet field conditions forced the Columbus Titan Baseball Team to move their non-conference varsity game with Coffeyville to Pittsburg State University’s ball diamond and eliminated the late junior varsity game. The move didn’t affect the Titans as they took the win, 7-2, at their home away from home at PSU.

Ediger, Major team up for 13K shutout over Fort Scott Tigers

Lady Titan Junior, Hailey Ediger and senior, Graci Major teamed up for 13 strikeouts and one hit in the 6-0, shutout of the Lady Tigers in Fort Scott, Thursday. Ediger opened in the circle for Columbus tossing 11 strike outs in the first five innings with one hit and one walk allowed in the nonconference matchup against the SEK League opponent.

Dates added to Titan schedules

Events have been added to the Lady Titan Softball Schedule and the Titan Track and Field Schedule. The Columbus Girls will travel to Arma, Wednesday for a varsity doubleheader at Northeast High School.

Seventh boys fifth at Girard

Titan Seventh Grader, Jayden Dohle, led Columbus to a fifth place team finish in a afield of 14 schools at the Girard Middle School Track and Field Meet, Thursday. Jayden placed first in the 400 Meter Dash, improving his own school record with a time of 57.8 seconds. He placed first in the 200 Meter Dash and was a member of the second place, 4x200 Meter Relay with AAlex Montierth, Denver Hughes, and Paxton Schalk.

Lady Tigers edge Columbus JV

The Columbus Junior Varsity Lady Titan Team started with a 2-0 lead but were edged by their host Lady Tigers, 3-2, Thursday in Fort Scott. Freshman, Bentley Townsend, led off with a double but was put out on a fielder’s choice play by freshman, Tatum Kirk.

Lady Titans tame Lady Bulldogs

The Columbus Lady Titans continued their sweep of CNC League teams with a double header win over Galena, Monday, at Rockette Field. In a pair of run-rule wins, Columbus won the first game 10-0 and finished the sweep with a four inning, 15-0, win in the night cap.

Titan Golf second in BHS Invite

The Columbus Titan Golf Team took second place in the Baxter Springs Invitational, Monday. Columbus edged St. Mary’s-Colgan by one stroke in the team standings, compiling a 372 total, behind Frontenac in first place with a team total of 353.
