Junior Golf Program wraps season

A group of young golfers completed their summer with the Columbus Junior Golf Program, Thursday.The season opened with a camp early in June where they worked hard to learn new skills, build confidence, and have a lot of fun along the way.

KSHSAA moratorium begins

The Kansas State High School Activities Association summer moratorium began yesterday and runs through July 5. The seven day period as set by the Executive Board shall include July 4 where no school related athletic activities can be held.

The Columbus Titan Football Team had 34 members participate in the Pittsburg State University Camp, June 15 at the PSU Plaster Center.

The Columbus Titan High School Football Team Camp will be held July 6-9, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. daily at the Central School practice field. Forms for the camp went home after junior high camp, yesterday.Helmet and practice jersey only are needed for the camp.

Local softball players ages eight and under have met the last two Mondays at the Columbus Community Field Ball Park for instruction on the fundamentals of softball. Four Columbus Unified High School Softball Alumni have provided instruction for the clinics.

Emporia State to host contact camp

Emporia State University is hosting a football contact camp, July 10, at the Central School Soccer Pitch. Multiple schools will travel to Columbus for the event beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing to noon.Players will need helmets and shoulder pads.

The Columbus Rockette 10 and Under Softball Team concluded their season in stellar fashion with a four-tournament win streak that included the Chad Saporito Summer Classic Softball Tournament in Columbus, June 13-14, and the USSSA State Tournament over the weekend in Derby.
Local cowboy Cal Saporito, had a wild ride in the recent Columbus Saddle Club Rodeo, May 12-14, at the Saddle Club Arena. Cal was the lone bull rider from Columbus and while his ride didn’t end as he would have wanted, the Fort Scott Community College commit, will have plenty of chances as he rides with the FSCC Rodeo Team throughout their 2026-27 season.
