Brush Creek hosting Junior Golf Tournament

Columbus Junior Golfers are being offered another opportunity to test their skills in a tournament being hosted at Brush Creek Golf Course, Friday.There will be five boys divisions starting with the 7-8 year-olds who will play six holes of golf.

Columbus Jr. Golf Champions

The Columbus Junior Golf Program secured the SEK Junior Golf League Championship following a makeup tournament in Coffeyville, Thursday. Individual scores were not available at press time. The team compiled 89 points over the four-week season to slip past Coffeyville in second place with 81 points.

Adamson reps CNC League in Shrine Bowl win

The East Team won the 53rd Kansas Shrine Bowl, 14-7, over the West Team, June 27 at Emporia State University’s Welch Stadium moving the alltime record to 32-18 in favor of the West with two ties.The CNC League was represented by Klayton Adamson from St. Mary’s-Colgan.
Columbus Unified High School Senior Students receiving the Great Gorilla Scholarship from Pittsburg State University Representative, Colin Coronado are: Darcy Garrett ($3,000), Kiara Goff ($1,500), Hunter Ruddick ($3,000), Trinity Green ($4000), and Austin Ash ($1,500). The scholarships were awarded at the CUHS Senior Assembly, May 15, at the high school gymnasium. Trinity Green also received a PSU Gibson Brunson Scholarship in the amount of $700.

Southeast runners camp approaching

Southeast High School and the Lancer Cross Country Team are hosting their second annual The Running Camp, July 17 and 18 at the Weir Church Camp.You can register for the camp with Lancer Head Cross Country Coach, Julie Jones between now and the day of camp.

The older age divisions of the Columbus Recreation Junior Golf Summer Program hosted a tournament, June 4, at the Brush Creek Golf Course in Columbus.The Junior Golf Program hosted golfers of all ages for the annual pre-summer clinic prior to the first tournament of the season.

Theater camp set for Monday start

A theater camp is being offered July 6-16 at the Columbus Unified High School Choir Room for students in the first through seventh grade this fall.CUHS Alumni, Mallory Thompson and Piper Hayes will lead the camp, Monday through Thursday starting July 6, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. daily.
