Republican Party meeting Tuesday

Cherokee County Republican Party will hold their August meeting Tuesday, August 17. They will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the breakroom at the Cherokee County Courthouse.

Area youth completes academy

An area youngster, Alden Ebersole of Parsons graduated from Missouri Military Academy (MMA) Confidence Camp. At the ceremony, he was awarded the Paintball Marksmanship Medal for having the second best score during the paintball qualification.

Columbus Life Christian School will open its 35th scholastic year Monday, August 30, with an orientation program for all students and any parents who wish to attend.

Results have been announced for the Dairy Goat show held during the Cherokee County Fair. In Senior Fitting and Showing Jadeyn Ivey, Spring Valley Sparklers, was Grand Champion. Allyson Wells, Spring Valley Sparklers, was Reserve Champion.

Mya Hamilton received a $20,000 Kansas State University Wildcat Traditions Scholarship from CUHS English Instructor, Karen Langerot at the Senior Awards Assembly in May. Mya plans to attend KSU and study Animal Science in Industry this fall.

Columbus Public Library Hours

The Columbus Public Library will be open to the public, with a five person limit. Mondays 9 p.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursdays 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Wednesdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. By appointment only. Thursdays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays 9 a.m.-noon. Saturdays 10 a.m.-noon.

Results are in for the Dairy Cow classes held during the Cherokee County Fair. Kysen Sommer, Spring Valley Sparklers was the Grand Champion in Intermediate Fitting and Showing. Trenton Lacen, Spring Valley Sparklers, was the Reserve Champion.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Aubrey Jordan Bokay, 26, was arrested Tuesday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of interference with Law Enforcement; obstruct or resist and is being held in lieu of $3,000 bail.
