The recent Storytime at the Columbus Public Library was all about rain. Isidora Maple is full of smiles exploring the toys during the event. Storytime events are held each month for children under five. Children can work on an art project while listening to a story on the month’s topic before exploring the many toys available. Genealogy CornerDecember 13, 1916 started out as a typical Wednesday morning when about one hundred men went to work at Mayer Mine No. 9, which was located about two and a half miles northeast of East Mineral or about one-half of a mile north of Stone City in Cherokee County.

Sunday nights storms did considerable damage to locations in and around Hallowell and Sherwin. At least one building was demolished and a grain bin sustained severe damage.
