Thompson, Wary play day-two at state

Lady Titan Senior, Mallory Thompson and sophomore, Natalie Wary, qualified for day two at the Kansas Class 3-1A State Golf Tournament in Emporia, Monday, in their second consecutive state appearance.Mallory had a day-one round of 91 to advance to the championship round, Tuesday.

In a new post season format, the Southeast Lady Lancers won the Kansas Class 2A, Region 2, Quad B Championship on their home court, Monday.
The Columbus Lady Titan Volleyball Team ended their season at the Kansas Class 3A, Regional 2 Tournament, Monday in Girard. Senior members of the team were recognized recently at a team senior night and will be introduced at the All-School Fall Activities Senior Night tonight at 6:30 p.m. prior to the home football game against Parsons. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Volleyball seniors are Destynne Goff, Chloe Rogers, Ruby Stover, Torey Tedlock, Katy Mooney, Madisen Rand, and Carlotta Galasso.

Lady Titans end season at regionals

The Columbus Lady Titan Volleyball Team wrapped up their season at the Kansas Class 3A, Region 2 Regional Tournament at Girard, Monday.The Lady Titans entered the newly formatted post season as the number 16 seed in the regional with a record of 4-24 for the season.

All-CNC Girls Cross Country

Kennedy Keller, Girard Sophomore, was the girl’s medalist in the CNC League Cross Country Meet, October 17, in Columbus. She completed the 5K course in a time of 20:38.70 minutes. Keller’s teammate, Natalia Onelio, senior was second, with a time of 20:55.

Cross Country regional tomorrow

Columbus, CNC League, and Southeast Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams will be participating in the Kansas Regional Tournaments tomorrow. Columbus, Baxter Springs, Frontenac, Galena, Girard, and Riverton will be in Richmond for one of four regional meets across the state for Class 3A schools.

Titan JV ends with win over Frontenac

In a season finale for the ages, the Columbus Titan Junior Varsity Football Squad pulled of a 30-21 win over the visiting Frontenac Raiders, Monday at Titan Stadium. The win was the first for the JV squad over a two-year span.

CJHS sweeps Girard in season finale

The Columbus Junior High Titans concluded their season, Tuesday night with a swept of Girard at Titan Stadium. The Eighth Grade Titans improved their record to 5-2 for the season to take third place in the CNC League with their 34-12 win over the Junior Trojans.

Jr. High Raiders win two vs Titans

The Frontenac Raiders scored early and continued to maintain their lead throughout their 44-20 win over the Columbus Junior High Eighth Grade Team, October 17 in Frontenac.The Raiders score their first touchdown on an 89yard interception return. The points-after-touchdown attempt failed.

Final week for Area Youth Soccer

The Columbus Area Youth Soccer League will have their final week of games tomorrow at Eddington Park.The Mini divisions will open the final morning with games at 9 a.m.

Additional team members but not pictured included Sean Krokroskia, Kevin Judd, David Edmondson, Tim Mehaffy, Carl Boyd, Scott Madden, Mitchell Harrison, Bobby Arnall, Todd Weaver, Mike Minor, Chris Wene and Bill Buck.

Athlete, coach, team inducted into Baxter Springs Sports Hall of Fame

Two individuals and a team were inducted into the Baxter Springs Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday at the high school.The Hall of Fame’s second year brought softball standout Kami Weston, coach and teacher Clark Hall and the 1985 State Champion 1-4A Baseball team into the fold.
