Following the resignation of Jake Conard as County Counselor the County Commission reverted to having the County Attorney’s office take the position over.County Attorney Kurt Beneke’s office will be attending the commission meetings and advising the commissioners on county legal matters.

Inappropriate actions involving a male student and other female students were reported to the Cherokee County Sheriff by administrators from the Riverton School District.On October 13, Sheriff’s Office detectives began an investigation into the allegations.

Alumnus speaks at Baxter H of F

Four new individuals were inducted into the Baxter Springs Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday night along with team members of two of the schools state championship baseball teams.An estimated 125 inductees, fans and family were in the high school for the dinner and inductions.
In the female 60 and over division finishing second was Janette Crain with a time of 45:05, first place was Kathy Ritchhart with a time of 28:54 and third place Sharon Carpino 51:39.
