The membership annual meeting breakfast and awards ceremony of the Cherokee County Economic Development Corporation was held Wednesday morning at the State Theatre Event Center in Columbus.

The city’s utility billing software is currently not functioning, according to City Clerk Ruth Hutley “We are still able to accept payments for utility bills with cash or check if you have your billing statement but we cannot check the balances or issue billing,” said Hutley.

Columbus Sports Hall of Fame inductions tonight

Two outstanding athletes will be inducted into the Hall of Fame tonight as the during the Hall of Fame dinner tonight in the Columbus High School Cafeteria. The dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. with proceeds going to the CUHS scholarship fund.

John Rodney Pease, 56, was arrested Saturday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of possess opiates, opium, narcotic drug or certain stimulant and battery and is being held without bail.
