Donation will aid foster kids

The Jasper County Missouri CASA endowment fund will significantly increase on Monday, August 25 when they formally accept a $50,000 donation from former Columbus residents Wes and Jan Houser.The presentation will take place at 11 a.m. at Jasper County CASA, 2421 East 20th St.

Results announced in 2025 Cherokee County beef classes

Results have been announced in the 4-H, FFA, and Heritage Youth Association beef show.The judge for the show was Mattie Haynes. Superintendents were K.C. Youngblood and Kim Scott with committee member Bennie Capron.

Open poultry ribbons awarded

Results have been announced in the Open poultry classes.Ribbons given are blue, red and white. Class large fowl cock, male one year and older Raven Ravenjfarms blue and Reagen Rippel red.

Cherokee County Jail Report

James Riley Washington, 58, was arrested Saturday by Quapaw Marshals on three warrants, two counts of interference with law enforcement; obstruct or resist and possession of certain stimulants and is being held in lieu of $3,750 bail.

Labette County Jail Report

Abigail Marie Clements, 27, was arrested Sunday by Oswego Police officers on a warrant and was released on $428 bail.Kelli Dawn Bentley, 31, was arrested Saturday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of domestic battery and is being held in lieu of $600 bail.
