Free lunch program feeds over 6,000

This summer 2,610 children and 4,132 adults were served lunches at the summer free lunch this year.Toni Spieth, a cofacilitator of the Summer Lunch program appeared at the County Commissioners meeting Monday to announce the good news as the program wrapped up for the year.

Farmers market on Thursdays

Thursday afternoon something big is going on in Columbus. The Farmer’s Market opens at 4 p.m. and it is offering shoppers, not only farm fresh produce from apples to zucchini, bake goods and artisan crafts.

Included in today’s edition of the News Report is a legal publication announcing the properties that could be involved in an upcoming delinquent property tax sale.There are 150 parcels on the list however, some may be redeemed before the auction.
A new entry in the Mae Sherwood Art wing of the Columbus Museum is currently on display. The handcrafted replica of a 1932 Rolls Royce Sedan Coupe was made by the late CCRHS graduate J. Leroy Barrett. This piece of art is unique because it is made of wood from trees grown on farms in Cherokee County. This artifact is not old, but it is a work of art.

Have you noticed the new addition to the building at the corner of Maple and Tennessee streets in Columbus?It is the new 3,000 square foot Columbus Museum Titan Hall of Fame. The building will stand in recognition of the Colum-bus High Schools top athletes.
