Cherokee County Jail Report

Kenneth Kade Elmore, 41, was arrested Sunday by Quapaw Marshals on charges of domestic battery; knowing or reckless bodily harm, criminal threat and interference with law enforcement; obstruct or resist and is being held without bail.

Labette County Jail Report

Donnell Marchal Wright, 46, was arrested Thursday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of driving while license cancelled, suspended or revoked and maximum speed limits and was released on $745 bail.

For the fifth consecutive year Spring Valley Sparklers 4-H Club member Samantha Ohmart, the daughter of Bub and Angel Tate showed the top Feeder Calf that went through the premium sale. This was the second year in a row she showed the Grand Champion and received a $2,100 premium from this year Sally Davis Real Estate.

Neil Hale award presented

Recipient of the Neil Hale award for all around high point youth in the 4-H Horse program for 2025 was presented to Violet Huddleston with her name being added to the travelling plaque.The award is named for, Hale, a supporter of the Cherokee County 4-H Horse program for nearly 50 years.

McCune appoints new council members

The resignations of three of the five McCune City Council members and the mayor, city clerk, superintendent, assistant superintendent and public works director were tendered last Tuesday.Leaving the Crawford County city closed and unable to conduct business.
