Results have been announced in the 4-H, Heritage Youth Association food judging. Food preservation, perishable and non-perishable foods judging took place at the 4-H building.Judges were Lynn Combrink, Jamie Robinson, Lori Carpino, and Marta Brown.

Maple Street sidewalk construction underway

Construction began today on the state Safe Routes to School sidewalk program, on Maple Street in Columbus.The project will have new sidewalk installed from Washington Avenue to High School Street beside the south side of Maple Street.

The Cherokee County Clerks office received $33,783.85 this week for their share of the revenue from Kansas Crossing Casino. The Casino had a revenue of $3,378,385 for the month of June.The revenue decreased by $270,133 compared to June 2024 and decreased $519,352 when compared to May 2025.
