Ninetieth birthday party planned for Turner

A 90th birthday party is planned for William “Bill” Turner Saturday, July 19 at the Mae Leslie Community Center in Chetopa from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.All friends and family are invited to help celebrate this momentous occasion. No gifts please. Birthday wishes, handshakes and hugs are always welcome.

Tracy Dale Kelley, 61, was arrested Wednesday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of possession of marijuana, distribution of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant and possession of drug paraphernalia and is being held without bail.

Spencer Allen Barnard, 25, was arrested Wednesday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of sexual of a child and aggravated indecent solicitation of a child and is being held without bail.

Wednesday back by popular demand ‘Hit Bingo’

For nearly a century the Cherokee County Fair has been the showplace for county youth in agriculture. Though in the past 100 years there have been changes in the fair’s entertainment. It began with horse pulling competition, farm crop production competitions and cooking competition.

Jeremiah Campfire Tuesday night

Jeremiah Campfire (Jeremy Lyons) is a Colorado Native and recently retired Special Operations Helicopter pilot who now calls Woodland Park home.Lyons is a 1995 graduate of Columbus Unified High School.
