Commission questions clerk’s salary raise

County Commissioners rejected a salary increase for Cherokee County Clerk Rebecca Brassart, until the County Counselor has the opportunity to review if setting her own salary is permissible.Friday morning the county’s bi-weekly payroll was presented to the commissioners for approval.

Carthage murder suspect arrested in Galena

The suspected shooter of a 22-year-old man killed Saturday in Carthage Missouri was captured in Galena Sunday.Police officers responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of West Vine, involving a weapon at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Cory Joe Spatafora, 48, was arrested Monday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on three counts of lewd and lascivious; exposing to a person over age 16 and is being held in lieu of $2,500 bail.

John Rodney Pease, 55, was arrested Sunday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of domestic battery and was released on $600 bail.Kyle Jacob Taylor, 31, was arrested Friday by Oswego Police officers on charges of criminal trespass and was released on $648 bail.
