Another building of Columbus’ yesteryear has been reduced to rubble. The former health department located on East Walnut was razed on Monday by workers of B-3 Construction. A new structure is slated to be erected later this year and will house the Cherokee County Health Department.

Flag centerpieces decorated the tables at the 2026 annual Messer family reunion. The theme was the 250th birthday of the United States. A covered dish meal including chicken was served.

A back-to-school bash is planned at Tennessee Prairie Church this Saturday, August 8.From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. there will be hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy.Free school supplies will be handed out while supplies last.
