On Wednesday evening Smithfield Christian Church youth and their leaders came to the Methodist Church and made six care boxes to send to local soldiers serving overseas. They also helped pay the postage to send them.

A Quilt of Valor was presented to Roy Tyree of Scammon, July 1. Tyree served in Vietnam from 1969-1971. After completing his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., he shipped out to Ft. Ord, Calif., for advanced training, then to Ft. Carson, Colo., before heading for Vietnam.
