Spring 2022 honor rolls announced by BCC

Barton Community College has announced their President’s List and Dean’s List for the spring 2022 semester. To qualify for this honor students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 4.0 on a 4.0 or “A” letter scale.

Area students named to Drury Dean’s List

Drury University’s has announced their Spring 2022 Dean’s List. Those named to the list include Matthew Dalton, Baxter Springs, who attended Ozark High School and Mason Huebner from McCune who attended Girard High School. The recognition means a student earned a grade point average of 3.

The Derfelt Family recently returned from a trip to Washington D.C., during which they were able to visit a number of sacred monuments, historical sites, and government buildings.

Book prompts student to research Japanese culture

Madeline Graham Seventh Grade ELA Full Cicada Moon, by Mariah Hilton, is one of the most interesting cultural books I’ve ever read. It’s about a little girl named Mimi who’s just moved from Japan to Hillsborough, Vermont. I finished reading it, but I had other questions about Japanese culture.

Christopher Wayne Carter, 26, was arrested Thursday by Baxter Springs Police officers on charges of driving while suspended and is being held in lieu of $595 bail.
