Van stolen from Riverton school

Sometime around 5 a.m. Saturday, June 11 a 2020 Ford Transit XL was stolen from the Riverton Schools campus. The van had a Kansas license plate A8932 at the time of the theft. The van has “Riverton USD404” on each side and a white “#7” decal on the rear window.

Columbus voters to polls today

Voters living in the City of Columbus are reminded that today the polls are open to approve renewing the one-half cent sales tax which has been collected for the past 12-years.

County okays new grader plan

A new grader and equipment plan was approved Monday by the Cherokee County Commissioners. County Road and Bridge Superintendent Cody Zook, presented the plan to the commission where the county would lease three graders for three years, four graders for four years and four on six years.

Avery Louis Cady, 28, was arrested Wednesday by Galena Police officers on charges of domestic battery; knowing or reckless bodily harm and was released on $1,000 bail.

Francisco Javier Armenta Jakes, 47, was arrested Wednesday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, vehicle liability insurance required and was released on $595 bail.
