Feds ban Oswego cattle trader for life

A lifetime ban and over a quarter-million dollars in fines has been entered by the U.S. District Court against cattle trader, John Rife, of Oswego, for his violations of federal law. He was also found guilty of breaching prior injunctive orders previously entered by the federal court Ṫhe U.S.

Baxter museum gets state grant

Local tourism is expected to be on the rise soon as Baxter Springs Historical Society was just awarded $40,000 to apply towards their upcoming Route 66 Roadside Park. Now that the organization has met their $200,000 target goal, locals can expect to see the project constructed around April of 2023.

June is industry appreciation month

June is Kansas Business and Industry Appreciation Month; the month we honor the hard-working Kansans who enhance the economy of our state and community of Columbus. The Columbus Chamber is urging all citizens to join in this important observance and salute local businesses in Columbus.

Columbus Day booth space available

The Columbus Day committee is now accepting 2022 vendor space applications. Several food and craft vendors have already registered. The one thing it tells us is that vendors are ready to get out and participate in festivals.
