Columbus invitational track, field results

Columbus High School Track and Field Team hosted the Columbus Invitational, Tuesday, at the Central School Track and Field Complex. Montana Ohmart, Lady Titan Junior, continued to collect gold in the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter run.

Major captures third in league

Life Christian’s 13-year-old Ben Major topped Isaac Burton of Chanute Christian, 6-3, recently to capture thirdplace honors in the Midstates Christian League Tennis Tournament at Fort Scott.

Fortunately there were no injuries

Fortunately there were no injuries when a large SUV crashed through the front of the Daylight Donut Shop at 103 West Maple in Columbus at approximately 10:30 Thursday morning. The shop owners, Maly Kheng and Marina Yong were both in the area struck when the car came through the wall.

Poly-cart rules draw citizen complaint

Complaints about the city of Columbus’s polycart cardboard box policy drew heated comments during Monday’s City Council meeting. Appearing at the meeting Randy Froebe criticized the current regulations requiring residents to break down and bag up their cardboard boxes.

Columbus Public Library Hours

The Columbus Public Library will be open to the public, with a five person limit. Mondays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday 9 a.m-6 p.m.. Thursdays 9 a.m.-6 a.m. Fridays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays 10 a.m.-noon. Curbside service will be available upon request.

Cherokee County Jail Report

James Eugene Michael Bois, 35, was arrested Sunday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of aggravated domestic battery; reckless great bodily harm and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
