Early morning accidents occur

An injury accident occurred Monday at approximately 7:50 a.m. A 2022 Kenworth semi truck driven by James Kevin Webber, 55, Grove, Okla., was attempting to make a left turn at the intersection at Highway U400 and K7 just east of the Cherokee city limits.

Results show officer’s bullet hit two-year-old

Updated information concerning the incident that occurred in Baxter Springs, Saturday, March 26 has been released by the Joplin (Mo.) Police Department. The standoff resulted in three deaths and a member of the Joplin SWAT team shooting a two-year-old girl.

The following persons were scheduled to appear before Judge John Bullard in Columbus Municipal Court Monday, March 28 at 4 p.m. Juan Jose Aguilar, 24, Kansas City, pleaded guilty to charges of maximum speed; 49 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone and license suspended, revoked or cancelled.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Michael Anthony Herndon, 52, was arrested Thursday by Baxter Springs Police officers on charges of domestic battery; physical contact in rude manner and is being held in lieu of $245 bail.

Labette County Jail Report

Kimberly Sue Suddock, 32, was arrested Tuesday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of endangering a child and two counts of battery and was released on $1,500 bail.
