Two businesses aided by E-Loan funds

The Cherokee County E-Community recently made E-Community Loans to help launch two new local business ventures: Circle H Liquor and Columbus Service, Center, Inc. The E-Community Loan Fund offers gap financing to those wishing to start, purchase, or expand a forprofit business in the county.

Community Thanksgiving service set

The Columbus Community Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, November 21 at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 200 West Sycamore Street in Columbus. Camp Joy Pastor Alan McCamey will deliver the Thanksgiving message. Host Pastor Jim Thomas will give the welcome.

Turkey derby halted due to shortages

Due to the shortage of turkeys the annual Columbus Merchants Turkey Derby will not be held this year. For the past 10 years the local businesses have supported a contest to provide turkeys to local families through a drawing.
