Frank Eduardo Barillas, 36, was arrested Sunday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of possession of certain hallucinogenic drugs, use or possess drug paraphernalia for use in the human body and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and is being held in lieu of $3,000 bail.

Recognizing the participation and service of Carla Karsen to the Cherokee County K-State Extension Council over the years, she was presented the council’s annual Appreciation Award.
Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves was elected President of the Kansas Sheriff’s Association at their annual meeting last week in Wichita. He has been Sheriff since 2008 and in 2013 was named Sheriff of the year by the association.
The final football contest of the year was thought by many of the players to be the toughest. Scott Thompson took first place missing three of the contests.
All of the restrooms in the city’s parks have been closed and locked for the season, according to Property and Parks Director Randy Coble informed the council that they are not set to reopen until spring.
