A scarily good time was recently had in the heart of Columbus. Creepy crowds gathered in front on Team Threads on Saturday night as part of a zombiethemed 5K run. The event was set up to help the Columbus Titan band program travel to Florida for a music festival.

Mil levy finalized after lengthy talks

After hours of discussion the Cherokee County Clerk, Kyle Rennie, approved the county’s mil rate at 39.017 mils a decrease of 12.623 mils from the 2020 budget. This will result in a decrease of $2.28 million in property taxes.

USD 508 logs 458 write-in ballots

Most voters in Cherokee County found themselves staring at a nearly blank ballot on Tuesday when they opened the folder to see the ballot. Just over 9 percent of the voters turned out in the entire county with a total of 1,321 votes cast.
