First toy wagons used to haul newspapers

Toy wagons, those that are large enough to give rides to children or to haul packages of newspapers for a newsboy, were first made in the 1880s in the United States. Most were made of wood that was painted red. Newspapers were sold to newsboys by the bundle.

Tanner Evan Cox, 21, was arrested Friday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of possession of marijuana and use or possess drug paraphernalia for use in the human body and was released on $851 bail.

Cherokee County Sheriff, David Groves didn’t hesitate when asked if they could assist us with assembling the beds. “This was a huge blessing and we are so appreciative of Dave and the two gentlemen who assembled the beds for us. Now when these beds go to their kids, they will be ready to just hop in,” said Tess Watson, sponsor.

Council discusses brush pile location

With the changing of seasons from summer to fall, home maintenance issues tend to get swapped out, as well. Citizens trade mowing and weed-eating for picking up all of the fallen leaves, twigs and branches that their trees dispose of in the cooler weather.

Cemetery may receive columbarium

The public is likely to receive a new way of honoring their deceased loved ones soon. As part of last week’s City Council work session, the members discussed purchasing a columbarium for Columbus Cemetery.
