Solid Waste grant provides new bins

Among 29 grants awarded to 24 organizations, the City of Columbus was awarded a grant of $4,896.68 for trash bin with recycling combos to be placed in the City parks.

The earliest use of eyeglasses was recorded about 1300. Rock crystal was shaped and set in round frames to wear and improve clarity. Glasses with temple arms that sit on the ears were not created until the 1700s. Glasses with dark lenses were worn for medical reasons by the late 19th century.

Servsafe training for food handlers

Kansas State Research and Extension Wildcat District in Girard will conduct a ServSafe Food Handlers education program Friday, August 13th at 8 a.m. Training will be held at the Crawford County Extension Office Conference Room, 120 E Buffalo in Girard.
