Judge reduces bond in local child rape case

The bond of a former county employee accused of five off grid felonies involving the rape of a child has been reduced. Magistrate Judge Samuel Marsh lowered the bond of John Edward Clark, 70, from $500,000 to $10,000 cash or surety.

Girl Scout House hours change

“The Cherokee County Girl Scouts have made a very difficult decision. Due to the extremely fast rise in covid cases in the county, we have decided to make our fair kitchen carry out only this year,” according to a new release received Friday.

No grand prize winner in Prizeweek Puzzle

The grand prize in the Prizeweek Puzzle continues to elude local participants. The consolation prize was won this week by Warren Duley, Columbus. The grand prize of $1,000 in Columbus Chamber Gift Certificates remains available to an entry matching the answers of the puzzle creator.

Scrap book expo returns to Scammon

After going dark last year due to the pandemic, scrap bookers returned to St. Bridget’s for their tenth scrapping fest last week. The scrap book enthusiasts arrived early at St. Bridget’s Fellowship Hall in time for a breakfast prepared by the ladies of the Alter Society.

Though building codes have been a part of the City of Columbus regulations for many years they have not been enforced. Wednesday evening the city authorities announced they would begin enforcing those codes beginning August 1.
