Q: I inherited a set of International’s “Spring Glory” sterling silver flatware 14 years ago. There are 12 five-piece place settings and several serving pieces. I showed it to a dealer last year who valued it at $1,000. I need to know its current value.

Community Foundation presents check to City for basketball court

Recognizing the popularity of basketball as a recreational activity for all ages, especially at the city park, Columbus Recreation Commission members Clint Ellis and Dan Walters suggested to the Commission board that a worthy project would be upgrading the basketball court facility at the park.

New members inducted into BHS National Honor Society

The stage was packed as students were inducted into the National Honor Society at Baxter Springs High School recently. With 16 returning members and 29 new inductees, this was the largest gathering at BHS since the COVID-19 quarantine.

Scout troop camps out at Carona Depot

Taking advantage of the improved weather Scout Troop # 299, from the Kansas City area came down for a visit to Heart of the Heartlands Train Museum in Carona and Big Brutus. The scouts arrived on Saturday morning and set up their tents and sleeping bags.
