USD 404 assists Riverton PRIDE plant trees

The Riverton USD 404 High School students gained hands-on knowledge regarding Earth Day and the importance of proper tree planting from the foresters from Liberty Utilities Monday April 19.

After prom Saturday, April 17, Baxter Springs High School students were able to participate in a variety of activities. To start off the evening three charter busses carried students to The Silver Spoons Barn in Joplin, Mo. A catered dinner was served followed by an evening of dancing.

City employees recognized by Mayor

Two proclamations were delivered by Columbus Mayor Grant Spieth during the City Council meeting. He recognized the Public Service Employees and the City Clerk Cherri Chancellor in particular.

Council changes employee hiring

All hiring for Columbus City non-appointed positions will be handled by the City Administrator and the department head and one City Council member.
