Columbus FD responds to Jayhawk Chemical

Columbus firefighters were dispatched to the Jayhawk Fine Chemical plant to a structure fire at 6:55 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival company officials told the firefighters to stay out, the company firefighters would handle the situation.

Former Quapaw Tribe officials are indicted

Criminal complaints were filed Friday in the Quapaw Tribal Court, Miami against former longtime Chairman John L. Berrey, former Secretary-Treasurer Smiley -Reeves and as many as seven other tribal officials. Berrey was voted out of office in July and now faces 11 criminal counts.

No winner in Prizeweek Puzzle game

The Prizeweek Puzzle continues to baffle players as another week has expired without a grand prize winner. This week’s consolation prize to Scammon resident, Debbie Norris, was drawn from among five contestants missing three of the preferred answers.
