Execution of narcotic search warrant leads to arrest

A narcotic search warrant was executed by Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies Thursday evening at a Weir home. As part of an ongoing investigation, detectives served the warrant at 201 North Jefferson, around 7 p.m.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Stacy Wayne Messinger, 52, was arrested Wednesday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of contempt of court and is being held in lieu of $500 bail. Patrick Kerman Jones, 49, was arrested Wednesday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of failure to appear and was released.

Labette County Jail Report

Mark Alan Rice, 55, was arrested Wednesday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of driving while suspended and was released on $300 bail.

Area Accident Report

An accident occurred April 5 at approximately 8:44 a.m. A 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Nathan Davis, 22, Columbus, backed out a parking space at 915 E. Country Road in to a parked unoccupied 2019 Ford Escape. Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated.

Kayla C. Arellano was found guilty of driving on a suspended, canceled or revoked license and was assessed fines and fees of $511. Offense occurred May 23, 2020. Breylynn M. Blue was found guilty of speeding; 10 miles per hour over and was assessed fines and fees of $187.
