Beekeeper kick off season

The Cherokee County Beekeepers will meet Monday February 15 at the Cherokee County Extension Office at 6:30 p.m. Members and nonmembers are welcome to the meeting and you do not have to reside in Cherokee County to attend. A major part of meeting is education.

Columbus football team members and their families delivered 440 sides of ribs at noon before the Super Bowl Game on Sunday evening. This year they sold about 50 more than last year. The funds raised are used to pay for the players to go to summer football camps and other team needs.

Columbus Library year in review

Delivering her annual report to the Columbus City Council, Librarian Lauren Dainty reviewed Columbus Library activities during the past year. She talked of the successes the library has had despite the COVID pandemic.

County employee vehicles damaged by brick spray

Three county employees appeared at the commissioners meeting Monday to complain that the acid spray being used by the contractor repairing the courthouse brick had damaged the chrome on their vehicles. One of the employees said they had an estimate of over $1,500 in repair costs.
