Cork puller first product of Novelty Iron Works

The Arcade Manufacturing Company started as Novelty Iron Works in 1868. It made iron storefronts, windmills and coffee mills. It became Arcade Manufacturing Company in 1885 and the first product was a cork puller. In 1893, they started to make toys to make use of the scrap metal.

Icy road conditions played a role in a one-vehicle rollover accident Wednesday. A 2004 Toyota 4Runner driven by Megan Rachael Baker, 27, West Mineral, was traveling north on Northwest 50th . Baker lost control due to icy conditions and went off the roadway to the right.

Columbus firefighters were called to a structure fire located at 219 North Minnesota in Columbus Wednesday at 307 p.m. The fire was quickly extinguished, though the fire had broken through the roof. “This was what we call an attic fire. It was confined to the attic”, said Fire Chief Steven Burton.
