Baxter Springs EMS offers free COVID-19 testing

Residents of Cherokee County can receive free COVID-19 tests at the Baxter Springs Ambulance Service office Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tests are sent by currier to the Sino chip Diagnostic lab and the results are available the next day.

Phishing scam hits county government

Friday afternoon several people opened their email to find a notice from a city and county official asking if they had a Amazon account. Almost immediately several of the city and county officials, some who received the message were warning friends about the scam.

Commissioners meeting moves back to first floor

The Cherokee County Commission will change their meeting place back into the Commissioner’s office on the first floor of the courthouse. The meetings begin at 9 a.m. Social distancing will be observed and masks are optional. The meeting will be livestreamed over citylinktv.

Who is in Phase 2 for inoculation?

With phase two of the COVID-19 vaccine schedule underway in Kansas the state has issued a reminder that anyone over 65 years of age is eligible to have the inoculations.
