Cherokee County Jail Report

Alexandria Renee Kloer, 23, was arrested Monday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of possession of stolen property, theft of property or services, criminal trespass and on a warrant and is being held in lieu of $3,285 bail.

Grant will provide benches, tables

A grant to add tables and benches to the city parks was presented to the Columbus City Council Tuesday evening seeking their approval for their share of the funding if the grant is approved.

Columbus holds first work session

The decrease in the Columbus City Council to five members has made the committee system used by the Council for many years impossible. They will be meeting for public work sessions on the second and four Monday evenings of each month.

County job projections good for future

Jobs are declining 1.5 percent in Cherokee County according to the MOKAN economic study released at the end of 2020. The report indicates there were 6,941 jobs in to 6,837 in 2020. This change fell short of the national growth rate of 6.2-percent by 7.7 percent.
