Griffits named ‘Farm Family of the Year’

Agriculture has been a way of life for both Kenney and Linda Griffitt from childhood. Those years of farming and their involvement in the Farm Bureau and community activities led to their receiving the Farm Bureau Farm Family of the Year for 2020.

Four games cancelled in Football contest

This week four games were cancelled of the Football Contest by the COVID- 19 pandemic. However there was still plenty of action to  keep the interest. The first place winner was Scott Thompson, second place went to Larry Tedlock and Jordan Eaves, took third place.

No winner in Prizeweek Puzzle game

The quest for a grand prize winner in the Prizeweek Puzzle continues. Sandra Stehl, Overland Park, took the consolation prize. The grand prize remains at $1,000 in Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificates.

Museum to be open for Columbus Day Festival

The Columbus Museum plans to be open for tours October 8, 9 and 10 and be a part of the Columbus Day Celebration. Hours those days will be 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday. Masks will be required at all time while inside the building.

Firefighters get CPR training

All 20 members of the Columbus Fire Department (CFD) are now certified with a first responder level CPR/AED course. The department also has three licensed emergency medical technicians and one licensed paramedic.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Paul David Holcombe, 43, was arrested Saturday by Columbus Police officers on charges of interference with law enforcement; obstruct or resist and domestic battery; physical contact in rude manner and is being held in lieu of $2,500 bail.
