Johnnie A. Stone, 77, of Baxter Springs, died, July 26, 2023 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo., surrounded by his loved ones. Born May 7, 1946 in Columbus, Johnnie was the son of Jack and Nadine Stone. He graduated from Columbus United High school with the class of 1964.
In 1966, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country for two years. Following his time of service, he began his trade as a brick mason where he went on to have a successful 50-year career. He married the love of his life Dixie Larison June 12, 1970.
In addition to his wife, Johnnie is survived by one daughter, Jami (Stone) Rodgers (husband Ed )of Baxter Springs, , and son, Jon Stone (wife Stacie) of Warren, Ark. Three grandsons, Blaise Feagan (wife Cheyanne) of Fairland, Okla. Blair Feagan (wife Nisa) of Quapaw, Okla. and Sawyer Stone of Warren, Ark. Two granddaughters, Baelin Whittley (husband Will) of Oswego and Nola Stone of Warren, Ark/ Five great grandchildren Lilly, Silas, Keaton, Kover and David. Two brothers, Jackie Stone of Columbus and Jerrie Stone (wife Cathy) of Neosho, Mo; sister, Shirley Messer of Council Grove; along with multiple bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren along with many specials’ nieces and nephews also survive.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Nadine Stone, one sister Sherry Stone, one brotherin- law Dean Messer and his Father and mother-in-law Jim and Bonnie Larison The funeral service was held Monday, July 31, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Baxter Springs, where he was a devoted member. Shane Dotson and Ron Neely officiated. Pallbearers include Blaise Feagan, Blair Feagan, Will Whittley, Marty Howard, James Messer, and Jeremy Strup. The Honorary pallbearer is Sawyer Stone.
