Adelina Lea “Deanie” Munoz Ellis Johnson, 97, of Columbus, died Monday, August 21, 2023, at Medicalodge of Columbus. Born February 24, 1926, in Quapaw, Oklahoma Deanie was the daughter of Fernando and Mary (Henning) Munoz. They preceded her in death. Deanie was also preceded in death by her husbands, Dale Ellis and Moore Johnson; siblings, Sylvina Munoz May, Bea Munoz Cowan, F. E. “Joe” Munoz Jr., and Frankie Munoz; nephew, Bill Munoz.
Deanie graduated from Cherokee County Community High School with the class of 1944.
Deanie and Dale Ellis were united in marriage December 6, 1946, in Yuma, Arz. Later, after the passing of Dale, Deanie married Moore Johnson in April 1981 in Columbus.
Deanie is survived by three sons, Mike Ellis (Peggy) of Columbus, D.G. Ellis (Paula) of Jenks, Okla. and Bob Ellis (Cindy) Webb City, Mo.; special niece, Marylin Cowan Shumake (Darrel); eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 28 at Park Cemetery Pavilion. Pastor Johnnie Adkins will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the graveside at 9 a.m., in the pavilion. Pallbearers for the service are Jim Cowan, Dustin Ellis, David Ellis, Brian Ellis, Clint Ellis, Alec Damrill; honorary pallbearers are Jeff Springman, Shaun Kloer, Dan Walters and Dustin Damrill. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Columbus Public Library (Children’s Section) or Columbus First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
