Bill L. “Big’en” McKee, 64, of Chetopa, died the morning of Friday, May 26, 2023, at his home. Born October 31, 1958, in Oswego, Billie Lee McKee, II, was the son of Billie Lee McKee, I, and Ersie Darlene (Casey) McKee. He grew up in the Oswego and Chetopa area. He was a graduate of Riverton High School.
Over the years, Big’en worked as a farm and ranch hand for area ranch and farm operations. He started with Bus Williams in rural Oswego, before becoming a truck driver for Bingham Truck and WSKT (now Old Dominion), retiring seven years ago.
Bill’s greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and going to their activities. He also enjoyed cattle ranching and hunting, especially pheasant and bird hunting.
Big’en and Debra Anne “Debbie” Jones were united in marriage December 13, 2014. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two daughters: Brandy Scott (Keith) of Oswego and Jessica Sproul (David) of Altamont; three stepdaughters, Robyn Donohoo (Trey) of Hartman, Bethany Pickens of Billings, Okla. and Sarah Wolf (Chris) of Moore, Okla. Five grandchildren: Wyatt Sproul, Maverick Sproul, Cole Scott, Tristan Scott, and Connor Scott; ten stepgrandchildren, Adison Smith, Chandler Smith, Miles Lingar, Marley Lingar, Lilly Lingar, Iris Lingar, Gracee Huffman, Julian Martinez, Sebastian Wolf, and Ewan Wolf; a brother, Brian Strickland (Kellie) of rural Chetopa; two sisters, Brenda Carter of Chetopa and Beckie Keith (Robert) of rural Chetopa along with several nieces and nephew and great nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 2 at the First Baptist Church of Oswego. Burial will follow at McKee Cemetery in rural Oswego.
