Edith Lavon Moore Hayzlett Clark, 86, of Topeka died at 5:58 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Lexington Park Health and Rehab, in Topeka, following an illness. Born March 24, 1937, in Columbus, Edith was the daughter of Charles Eugene and Doris Levina (Smith) Moore. She had lived in Topeka for a few months, moving from Joplin Mo. where she had lived for 30 years. She grew up in Columbus and had lived in various towns in Kansas and Missouri, before moving to Joplin.
Edith was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, playing the piano and making arts and crafts that she gave to her kids and grandkids.
Edith was first married to Julius Dean Hayzlett June 7, 1953 in Laken. She later married Leonard Allan Clark July 13, 1978, in Shell Knob, Mo.. He preceded her in death September 28, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald Moore, and one sister Mary Ploeger.
Edith is survived by sons, Kenny Hayzlett, of Shelll Knob, Mo., Rodney Hayzlett (Linda), Joplin, Mo. and Jason Clark (Mandi), of Republic, Mo.; three daughters, Debra Blair (Doug), of Elkhart, Lora Schiffelbein, Topeka and Judy Nieson (Gary) of Syracuse. Six step-children, Steve Clark (Jacinta), Wichita, Tim Clark (Geradette) of Clinton, Iowa, Ed Clark (Rita), of Camanche, Iowa, Stan Clark, Davenport Iowa, Vickey Clark, Delmar Iowa and Linda Facemire, Prescott, Ariz.; two brothers, Eddie Moore (Judy), and David Moore (Fern), both of Wichita; three sisters, Doris Burnett, Wichita, Grace Skipton (Larry) Garden City and Connie Nibarber (Robert) of Justin, Texas; 35 grandchildren and many greatgrandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at Derfelt Funeral Home, in Columbus. Pastor Matt Fowler will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, at Columbus.
