Garry Busse, 70, of Slayton, Minn. died at his home with his family by his side Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Born June 26, 1953, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, Garry was the son of Clifford and Mathilda Reyelts Busse. They prececed him in death. Garry was also preceded in death by his brother, Wally Reyelts.
Garry grew up on the family farm and graduated from George High School in 1972. Garry remained on the farm until 1993 when he moved to George, Iowa. In 1995 he moved to Slayton, MN.
Garry and Charilyn “Char” Finke Hanson were united in marriage August 25, 2007, at Slayton, Minn. Garry worked for Campbell Soup in Worthington, Minn. for 26 years before going to work for Schmitz Grain in Slayton for 23 years. Garry retired in 2019.
Garry was a member of Faith Community Lutheran Church in Slayton, Minn. Garry enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, woodworking and helping other with their projects.
Garry is survived by his wife, Char Busse of Slayton, MN; three children and their spouses, Croy and Michelle Busse of Baxter Spring, Cal and Sam Busse of Joplin, Mo., Codi and her fiancé Justin Murphy of Burden; three step children, Nick Hanson and his wife, Marie, Kendra Hanson and Keyane Hanson all of Slayton, Minn. Five grandchildren, Hollie, Kaden Busse and Jacob, Carlee and Kyle Busse, one step granddaughter, Hannah Aspen Wahl; his brother, LeRoy Busse and his wife, Vicki of Sioux Falls, SD; parents-in-law, Lloyd and Elayne Finke of Slayton, Minn; six brothers and sisters-in-law and their spouses, Rick Finke of Baltic, SD, Pat and Clayton Crowley, Gary Finke, Linda and Dale Nelson and Sue and Dean Streff all of Slayton, Minn., and Troy and Julie Saunders of Mora, Minn.
Memorial services will be held in the Faith Community Lutheran Church in Slayton, Minn. Wednesday, September 6, at 1 p.m. Reverend Max Whitehead will officiate. Special music by will be by Tim Bengston and Eden Bengston Carney. The honorary pallbearers are Hollie Busse, Kaden Busse, Jacob Busse, Carlee Busse, Kyle Busse, Hannah Aspen Wahl, Tom Whitehead, Phil Swenson, Jerry Rigney and Myron Grussing. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, Minn.
