Linda K Bennett, 72, of Galena, died at 1:12 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Freeman West Hospital, in Joplin, Mo. following a long illness. Born in Kansas City, Mo., January 11, 1951, Linda was the daughter of Roscoe and Ruby (Sills) Woods. She has lived in Galena most of her life. She attended Galena School System and in 1988, she earned an Associate of arts degree in Respiratory Therapy from Labette Community College, in Parsons. She worked for several years at Baxter Memorial Hospital, in Baxter Springs, until it’s closure in the 1980’s. She continued to work in the heath care field for several years afterwards.
Linda and her husband owned and operated Sticks-N-Stuff, a retail household store, in Baxter Springs. They later moved the store to Joplin, Mo. and operated it there for several years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, in Baxter Springs. She enjoyed genealogy, doing yardwork and traveling.
Linda and John Bennett were united in marriage May 27, 1978 at Galena. He survives. Additional survivors include one son, Mark Bennett; one sister Sandra Olds; one grandson; her brother-in-law, Joe Bennett and sisterin-law, Anita Stewart (husband, Randy)
Linda was preceded in death by one son, Shannan Olds, her father, Roscoe Woods and her mother, Ruby Holland.
Linda was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, of Galena for cremation. The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
