Philip Ferneau, 63, Riverton

Philip Clabe Ferneau, 63, of Riverton, died unexpectedly at 7:33 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg. Born September 19, 2959 in Joplin, Mo. Philip was the son of Jerry Ferneau and Phyllis (Cockrum) Ferneau. He graduated from Joplin High School in the late 1970’s. After attending trade school, he began working at Kemlee Manufacturing in Galena. He continued his employment there for the rest of his life, at one point earning the title of Lead Man. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed watching Alaskan Bush People on TV, playing video games and playing his drums.

Philip and Gwenda Scott were united in marriage January 20, 2001 at Eureka Springs, Ark. She survives.

In addition to his wife, Philip is survived by two sons, Jake Ferneau of Strafford, Mo. and Rayden Lindsey of the home; three daughters, Kelly Rhuems and Michaela Tackett (husband, David) both of Galena and Abriana Ferneau of Joplin, Mo. Two brothers, Scott Cash of Overland Park and Jeff Ferneau of Ozark, Mo.; two sisters, Debbie Parker of Joplin, Mo. and Teresia Bunting of Memphis, Tenn. along with several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and cousins also survive.

Philip was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Brown; and one son, Jesse Shaffer.

The family will host a celebration of life at 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 18 at Schermerhorn Park in Galena. Everyone is welcome and the family suggests that you bring a lawn chair. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
