Carolyn Wheelock, 73, Pittsburg

Carolyn Sue Wheelock, 73, of Pittsburg, died Thursday, August 31, 2023, in Kansas City. Born June 10, 1950, in Columbus, Carolyn was the daughter of Milas and Juanita (Chandler) Allen. She was the third of six children. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and one brother David Allen.

Garry Busse, 70, Slayton, Minn.

Garry Busse, 70, of Slayton, Minn. died at his home with his family by his side Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Born June 26, 1953, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, Garry was the son of Clifford and Mathilda Reyelts Busse. They prececed him in death. Garry was also preceded in death by his brother, Wally Reyelts.

Sharon Moss, 79,

Sharon Fern Moss, 79, died peacefully at her home August 25, 2023. She was born August 14, 1944. Sharon is survived by her husband, Jimmie Moss of the home; two sons, Vernon Moss (wife Sandy) of Wyandotte, Okla. and James Moss (wife Joy) of Joplin, Mo.

Nelson Cruz-Bones, 48 of Columbus, died suddenly Thursday, August 24, 2023. Born December 20, 1974, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Nelson was the son of Mariluz Cruz-Belbrus. He lived with her in Puerto Rico until around age 10 when he moved to the states, residing in Massachusetts.

Clyde Stansberry, 88, Galena

Clyde Jerome Stansberry, 88 of Galena, died at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 14, 1935, Clyde was the son of Frank Stansberry and Alice Mae (Shira) Stansberry. They preceded him in death.

William McDede, Jr., 78, Oswego

William Robert McDede Jr, 78, of Oswego died at 12:42 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Oswego Health and Rehab, in Oswego following an illness. Born July 3, 1945 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, William was the son of William R. and Judy McDede.

Justin Krogen, 36, Baxter Springs

Justin Edward Krogen aka Boop, 36, of Baxter Springs, tragically had his life taken from him Sunday August, 20, 2023. Born in Pittsburg, August 5, 1987, Justin was the son of Teresa Marie Harris and John Krogen. Boop grew up in Weir and attended USD 247 schools. Boop loved life to its fullest.

Adelina Lea “Deanie” Munoz Ellis Johnson, 97, of Columbus, died Monday, August 21, 2023, at Medicalodge of Columbus. Born February 24, 1926, in Quapaw, Oklahoma Deanie was the daughter of Fernando and Mary (Henning) Munoz. They preceded her in death.

Gary LaTurner, 60, Galena

Gary Wayne LaTurner, 60 of Galena, died Sunday, August 20, 2023 following injuries sustained in an accident on Highway 66, west of Galena. Born in Joplin, Mo., May 10, 1963, Gary was the son of Jerry Robert LaTurner I and Carolyn Rowan.

Michael Hessee

Michael Earl Hessee, 73 of Baxter Springs, died Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Landmark Hospital, in Joplin, Mo. Born January 19, 1950, in Yuba City, Calif., Mike was the son of Billy Joe and Leona Mae (Riddle) Hessee. Mike has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation.
