The St. Mary’s-Colgan Lady Panthers earned their third consecutive Kansas Class 3-1A State Championship, Tuesday, in Hutchinson. Lady Panther Senior, Ali Scripsick, placed second to pace her team in the three-peat win. Team members are: Greta Ison, senior; Ava Scripsick, sophomore; Ali Scripsick, senior; Audrey Goetting, senior; Zoey Smith, senior; and Molly Swezey, sophomore. The team is coached by Kim Correll Scripsick, Lady Titan State Championship Golfer.

Lady Panthers three-peat at State Tourney

The St. Mary’s-Colgan Lady Panthers, under the direction of Head Coach Kim Correll Scripsick, captured their third Kansas Class 3-1A State Ladies Golf Championship, Tuesday, at Carey Park in Hutchinson.

Basketball League signups tomorrow

Columbus Youth Basketball League will have sign-ups tomorrow (Saturday) and October 29 at the Eddington Park Concession Stand during soccer games, 9 a.m. – noon. Local athletes in grades one through six are invited to participate in the local league.

The Columbus Junior High Seventh Grade Team collected their Cherokee Crawford County Junior League (CCCJL) Championship, Tuesday at Frontenac. The Junior Titans beat the Raiders, 8-6, in a double overtime thriller to keep their season undefeated. The team is being recognized as Titans of the Week.

The Columbus Titans picked up a come-frombehind, district win over the Baxter Springs Lions, 33-26, Friday, in Baxter Springs. The CNC League Teams battled for the right to advance into the post season and the Kansas Class 3A State Playoffs.

The Lady Lions lost leads in sets one and three to suffer a 2-3, five-set loss to St. Mary’s-Colgan. After losing the first set, 2522, Baxter Springs took the second set, 25-20. The Lady Panthers came back to take set three, 25-23, in the best of five sets dual meet.

The Columbus Lady Titan Junior Varsity needed three sets (25-22; 24-26; 18-15) against Coffeyville an just two sets against Independence (25-18; 25-13) to sweep a home triangular, Tuesday, with their former SEK League rivals.

Titans earn win, Girard, Chanute, PSU remain undefeated in week 7

Girard and Chanute remained undefeated at 7-0, and moved to 3-0 in district standings and Columbus earned a much needed win in week seven of the Kansas High School Football Schedule. Pittsburg State University also moved to 7-0 with their win over Lincoln, Mo.

Thompson to play championship round

Lady Titan Sophomore, Mallory Thompson, has advanced to the championship round of the Kansas Class 3-1A State Golf Tournament in Hutchinson. The final is being played today. Mallory shot a 94 in the opening round, Monday, to earn a day-two spot. Reese Grundy, junior, had a 102 on the day.
