BHS Lions take comeback win in Labette County

Labette County held a 5-1 lead after the first inning, but the Baxter Springs Baseball Lions came back to run rule the Grizzlies 17- 6, in Altamont, Thursday. Kamo Williamson lead off for the Lions in the opening inning with a walk, then stole second.

Titan Junior, Brett Hamilton, gets a hit in a recent game at Labette County. Brett was one of three Titans with home runs in the shutout over the Chargers, 17-0, Thursday, in Cherryvale.

CUHS Titans shutout Chargers

The Columbus Titan Baseball Team shutout Cherryvale, 17-0, Thursday, in a five-inning, runrule game at Cherryvale. The chargers earned just one hit in the matchup and left three runners stranded on bases throughout the evening.

Madisen Rand, Lady Titan Freshman, made the play at first and is ready to return the ball to the pitcher in Columbus Junior Varsity action against Labette County on Rockette Field. Madisen and Lady Titans took down the Lady Lions, Tuesday, in a double header sweep.

Lady Titan JV sweeps Lady Lions

The Lady Titan Junior Varsity Squad swept their CNC League opener with two wins over the junior Lady Lions from Baxter Springs. Following a varsity sweep, Monday, the junior varsity collected their wins, Tuesday at Rockette Field in the Community Field Ball Park, 10-2 and 18-2.

Lady Titan Junior, Montana Ohmart, placed 12th in team standings at the 25-team, Jock’s Nitch/ Gorilla Relays, Friday at Pittsburg State University. The 33rd annual event hosted teams from four states of Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Titan Golfers use track skills in windy tourney

A windy day on the golf course added a new dimension to the Titan Golf Team’s game, Friday in Independence. In addition to adjusting their swing to play the wind, the team also honed their track skills as they sprinted to the holes to keep their balls from being blown off the green.

The CUHS Titan Baseball and Lady Titan Softball varsity games scheduled for last night have been rescheduled for today at the Columbus Community Field Ball Park. The teams are hosting the Galena Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs for CNC League double headers. First pitch will be at 4:30 p.m.

The Titan Golf Team kicked off their CNC League Schedule in Frontenac, Tuesday, placing fourth in the eight-team field. Columbus’ scorecard totaled 372 behind the tournament host and champion, Frontenac at 300. St.
