Lady Lions fall in regular season finale

The Lady Rams started their contest with the Lady Lions, Tuesday, with a 10-4 lead on their own court, with a field goal by junior, Laibrey Higinbotham, a three pointer by sophomore, Olivia Parker, and a free throw, and a field goal by junior, Jacy Thomasson.

Lions lose two in final week

The Lions started in the hole down 3 to 13 at the end of the opening period in Riverton and remained there in a Ram victory of 51-17. Two Rams scored in the first quarter. Junior, Jayme Richardson, had a three, a two, and two free throws. Sophomore, Loch North, hit three field goals.

Saporito takes third at state

Lady Titan Junior, Addison Saporito placed third in the KSHSAA Girl`s 4A- 1A State Championship, Thursday in Salina. The Regional Champion wrestles in the 109-pound weight class where she placed third in the KSHSAA Class 1-4A Division II Championships last season.

CCLL, SGSA holding sign-ups Saturday

Cherokee Community Little League and Southeast Girls Softball Association are holding sign-ups for their summer programs. Registration forms for Little League Baseball and T-Ball will be available Saturday, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Upwards Basketball at the First Baptist Church in Cherokee.

Riverton loses to Class 5A Pittsburg

In a boys only contest on Monday night, the Riverton Rams lost to the Pittsburg Purple Dragons, (13-4) a Kansas Class 5A School that is ranked fourth in the state in the east division, 46-49, in a hard fought Southeast Kansas contest. Riverton led after the first quarter, 14-11.

Raiders avenge CNC loss with big win over Titans

A determined Frontenac Raider squad came to Columbus with revenge on their mind and followed through by taking a 67-41 win over the hometown Titans.

Class 3A, 2A Sub-states set

The Kansas State High School Activities Association has set the postseason, sub-state brackets to begin Monday. Four CNC League Schools will be playing in the tournament hosted by Fredonia with the firstround games played at the higher seeded school.

Spirit Squad Seniors recognized

Lady Titan Senior, Paige Hunt, was recognized on Senior Night at the CUHS Gymnasium. Paige is a three-year basketball manager and a two-year Wrestling Cheerleader. She was escorted by her mother, Suzette Hunt.

Wrestling Seniors recognized

Titan Senior, Jacob Sibor, was recognized on Senior Night at the CUHS Gymnasium. Jacob is a four-year member of the Titan Wrestling Team. He was escorted by her parents, Tamara Hume and Ted Scibor. Lady Titan Senior, Emily Welch, was recognized on Senior Night at the CUHS Gymnasium.

Smith receives Golden Lion

Titan Senior, Trenton Smith, received a Golden Lion Award via Zoom from Missouri Southern State University, Monday at Columbus High School. The award includes a $1000 scholarship to MSSU.
