Titans tame Panthers in CNC rematch

The Columbus Titans avenged their loss to St. Mary’s-Colgan with a homecoming win on their own court, Thursday, 49-39. The Panthers mauled the Titans in the first game of the season, 65-49. Free throws were key to the win with the Titans scoring 25 points from the line in 36 attempts.

Eight Lady Titan Wrestlers qualified for the Kansas Class 4-3-2-1A State Championship by placing in the top four at the Kansas Class 4-3-2-1A Regional B Tournament, Saturday, in Chanute. The team out scored eighth ranked, Eureka, 161.5 to 114 on their way a Regional Team Championship.

Raiders sweep Lions on homecoming

The Frontenac Raiders took two wins on their Homecoming Night over the visitors, sending the Baxter Springs Lions home with a 60-33 loss. The Lions started behind the 8-ball with a 6-14 deficit. Their six points came from seniors, Kaden Niday’s two field goals and one from Kamo Williamson.

Trojans get past Titans, 58-52

The Columbus Titans began the fourth quarter tied with their host, Girard Trojans, 39-39. The lead changed hands twice, early in the period, and was tied two times before the home team came out victorious in the 58-52 win. Defense for both teams prevailed in the first two minutes of the game.

Slow start dooms Lady Titans

The Columbus Lady Titans gave their hosts, the Girard Lady Trojans, a run for their money, Tuesday. But the home team held off their determined visitors to take the win, 40-34.

Mini Titan roundball here Saturday

The Columbus Rec Mini Basketball Teams will be back in action tomorrow on the Central Junior High School Campus and at the CUHS Gymnasium. Riverton will bring pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade teams to play Columbus at all three venues.
