USA All-American tryouts set

USA Softball of Kansas and USA Softball Region 7 will host a tryout for the 12U All-American teams, Saturday, January 22 in Kansas City at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy. Players must be 12 years old or under January 1, 2022 and registered with a USA Softball team.

Preparing for winter does not look the same for each species of livestock. Horses do quite well in the cold even if they live outside. A three-sided shelter will provide protection from the elements, and a clean place to lie down will help conserve body heat on a cold night.

Galena takes first match of season

The Bulldog boys bite the Lions, 59-33, in Galena, in their first match of the basketball season. Senior, Brett Sarwinski, led Galena with 15 points, followed by junior, Tyler Little, with ten points, and senior Kobe McGlothlin with seven.
Titan Seniors, Kody Schalk, Nathan Stice, Gabe Martin, Trent Smith, and Jaxson Haraughty were recognized and presented with their jersey during the 2021 Titan Football Awards Ceremony, Wednesday, at the Columbus High School Cafeteria. The five seniors accounted for 52 percent of the Titan scoring, 42 percent of the total team tackles, 83 percent of yards rushed, and 68 percent of the team’s tackles for loss.

The Columbus Youth Basketball League will open their season tomorrow, on two courts, at the Red Iron Activity Center. The Galena Mini Bas The Galena Mini Basketball Players will be in Columbus for the elementary games, grades 1-6, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

CUHS home opener tonight

Columbus High School Basketball will host their 2022 home opener, tonight against CNC League opponent, Girard Trojans. Lady Titan JV at the Central New Gym at 4:30 p.m. followed by JV boys. Lady Titans at the Lady Titans at the CUHS Gym with tip off at 6 p.m. followed by Titans.

Lady Titan Eighth Grader, Ellie Helms, scored all 19 points for Columbus in the CCCJL Tournament Consolation/ Third Place game, December 16 against Girard. She is being recognized as Titan of the Week. The Lady Trojans took the win, 36-19, despite Helms’ efforts.

The Girard Lady Trojans cruised to a third place finish in the CCCJL Eighth Grade League Tournament, December 16 on their home court. Lady Titan, Ellie Helms, scored all 19 of the Columbus points in the 19- 36 loss.
